Northside HS admins suddenly reassigned
Three administrators at Northside High School were suddenly reassigned.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Three administrators at Northside High School have been reassigned to non-classroom and non-school duties, HISD confirms.

Principal Dr. Julissa Alcantar Martinez and two unidentified assistant principals were reassigned days before students were set to return to class.

"They affected the culture of the school and made it very stressful for teachers," Corina Ortiz with the Houston Federation of Teachers told ABC13 about the reassignments.

Ortiz said the Houston Federation of Teachers received complaints going back two years about the principal. She said teachers complained about public discipline, bullying, and low morale. According to Ortiz, teachers said Northside was not a comfortable place to work, and many are relieved she and the others are gone.

Ortiz told ABC13 it is another unfortunate disruption the students have to deal with after the hurricane.

In a statement, HISD pledged to work with the Northside community to prevent disruption to student learning and assign an "experienced, veteran" administrator to oversee the school:

"The Northside High School principal and two assistant principals have been reassigned to off-campus, non-classroom duties. District leadership will work closely with the Northside community and the remaining campus leadership team to ensure there is no disruption to student learning as they prepare to start on Monday. An experienced, veteran administrator will be assigned to Northside while the district evaluates next steps."
