Suspect shot by deputy after chase, carjacking attempt in Montgomery Co.
A suspect is dead following a chase and carjacking attempt in Montgomery County.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Investigators say a deputy shot and killed a suspect who appeared to be reaching for a weapon after a chase and carjacking attempt at a Montgomery County gas station.

The incident began when a Montgomery County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable attempted to pull over a motorcyclist with unregistered license plates. The deputy lost sight of the motorcyclist, and a second deputy later tried to pull the same suspect over down the road.

After a short chase, the suspect crashed his motorcycle and took off running to a gas station on Kingwood Drive at Chestnut Ridge Road.

The suspect tried to carjack somebody coming out of a carwash, but the deputy caught up to the suspect and attempted to physically subdue him. The deputy tased the suspect, who then reached into his backpack.

The responding officer said he saw a gun in the suspect's backpack, so he opened fire, shooting the suspect multiple times and killing him.

The deputy was not injured in the altercation.

No other details have been released.
