Events cancelled in advance of Hurricane Harvey

Steps you should take when a storm is approaching Houston

As Hurricane Harvey bears down on the Texas Gulf Coast, decisions are being made to cancel events as necessary in the interest of public safety. Click here for information about school closings.

Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash matches set for Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at BBVA Compass Stadium are postponed, the clubs announced. The Dynamo will reschedule their match with Sporting Kansas City for Oct. 11. A new date for Dash game with the North Carolina Courage will be determined at a later date.

Friday night's Mary J. Blige concert at Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land has been postponed. The venue has yet to announce a new date.

Sunday's Lady Antebellum You Look Good World Tour stop at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman has been canceled. Refunds will be made automatically at point of purchase.
The Houston Zoo will be closed Friday, Aug. 25 through Sunday, Aug. 27. The animals will be cared for during the storm by a select group of team members who will stay at the zoo throughout the weather event.

Texas Children's Hospital is closing all clinics and canceling all outpatient procedures at the three campuses on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, including the Texas Medical Center campus, West Campus and The Woodlands. Texas Children's Health Centers and Specialty Care locations, as well as community Maternal-Fetal Medicine and OB/GYN clinics will also be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The Centers for Children and Women will be closed Saturday and Sunday.

Activities at Discovery Green scheduled between Friday, Aug. 25 and Monday, Aug. 28 have been canceled.
Space Center Houston will be closed Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 26.

Levy Park programming scheduled between Friday, Aug. 25 and Monday, Aug. 28 has been canceled.

Schlitterbahn locations throughout the area have adjusted their hours of operation. Schlitterbahn Galveston Waterpark will be closed Friday, Aug. 25 through Sunday, Aug. 27; Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi's Riverpark, Veranda restaurant and resort will be closed Thursday, Aug. 24 through Monday, Aug. 28; and Schlitterbahn South Padre Island will be closed Friday, Aug. 25 through Sunday, Aug. 27. The beach resort will work under limited operations.

Some Texas State Parks will be closed this weekend. Officials will post specific closure information on the department's website.

Texas A&M Corpus Christi has cancelled events taking place between noon on Thursday and Saturday. Officials have also ordered a Code Blue evacuation.
