Local neighborhoods prepare for severe weather

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Harris County's Office of Emergency Management is on standby for the storms forecast to roll into southeast Texas early Sunday morning.

"Like last week some might see light rain, others may see very severe weather, so we're here, planning with our partners for whatever comes," said Francisco Sanchez.

Last week brought tornados that toppled containers at the Port of Houston, and damaged trees and homes in Pasadena, and in the Sagemont area of southeast Houston.

"On some of the houses, bricks were torn off, and tree limbs were everywhere," said homeowner Pat De Los Santos. "That's crazy."

Saturday evening, piles of damaged fencing on sidewalks were awaiting pickup. Large tree limbs were cut up and put out for trash collection.

One home had its brick siding ripped off. The home now has construction fencing. Other houses have roof repair contractor signs in front yards.

William Davis' home escaped damaged, but his neighbors took a hit. "I just thought it was a lot of wind at the time," he said. "Then I saw what happened when I went out the next morning.

"It could get real bad overnight and tomorrow," said De Los Santos.

Davis takes a different view. "I've been through Allison. I've been through worse."
