HPD: Shootout between people turns into gunfight with officer
Police say a gunfight between two people in southeast Houston has escalated to an officer-involved shooting.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say an officer suffered a minor injury during a shootout with a suspect in southeast Houston.

The shooting happened in the 6700 block of Dixie.

Details are still sketchy, but police say the suspect shot at the officer and the officer returned fire. Police say the officer was driving his personal car at the time of the shooting and they're still trying to figure out what he doing was in the neighborhood.

The officer received a minor injury to his hand but is otherwise OK.

The suspect took off running and a search for him is still ongoing. Police still don't know if he was injured in the gunfight.

The second suspect at the scene is in custody.
