"Yoga gives me a safe place to practice one of life's essential lessons: to accept success and failure with equal grace and humility."
Pose: Crow
"I may not have an ideal appearance, but I'm still here.. standing, growing, and strong, #perfectionisoverated."
Pose: Double Downward Dog with a scorpian tail
Pose: Revolved Side Angle
Gina Gaston decided to celebrate her 50th birthday by sharing her passion for yoga with the world.
Pose: Forearm Stand
"This pose is called Lord of the Dance. And I love it 'cause it's: balance plus strength plus grace. Three things I hope to bring more of into my life!"
"Trying is doing. All of the best things in life come from the effort. So if your version of HALF MOON POSE doesn't look like mine, so what?"
"I feel like Zena the Warrior princess (or my daughter Lauren) when I do this pose. Approaching the new year with the spirit of a warrior--strong mind and body." Pose: Warrior Two
"This headstand pose proves what my mom said to me as a child is true: I am, indeed, hard headed! But I think I make a decent tree trunk!" #perfectionisoverated
"This is a version of tree pose. Standing next tot he mannequins made me reflect--do you want to fit in or stand out?"
"A thought is just a thought. It's not a thing and doesn't truly exist. So be careful with your thoughts."
Pose: Standing Head to Knee
"Many of you have expressed a desire to try yoga, and while yoga's been great for me, my point really is just to encourage you to do SOMETHING to improve your health." Pose: Pigeon
"This pose is good for the back, but its also supposed to help you de-stress, relax your mind, boost circulation and help the endocrine and nervous systems." Pose: Camel
"Today's pose is a more advanced version of Side Plank. If you want to take it to the next level look up at your heel! The ground is close by if you fall, afterall."
"This is side crow. There are easier and harder versions of it, and it's generally easier for people who have strong upper bodies, and light lower bodies."
"Today's pose is a more advanced version of Side Plank. If you want to take it to the next level look up at your heel! The ground is close by if you fall, afterall."
"I love this because it loosens up my back. I don't lift upper body weights, only lower, but you can see how yoga can help tone your arms."
Pose: Firefly
"This pose can be a lot on your shoulders and back so it's not for everyone, but I love whenever I open my chest to the sky and just BREATHE!"
Pose: Wild Thing
"I'm doing every 7 year olds favorite pose. (notice the heel that is supposed to down, oooops) #perfectionisoverated "
Pose: Looking backward, stretching forward.
"This is a basic pose appropriate for a beginner. Try to hold and breathe deeply, then take note of how you react to discomfort." Pose: Pyramid
"Some days this pose is easy and other days, I simply can't get it. It's a wonderful reminder of how different we are each day."
Pose:Visvamitrasana
"This is called reverse warrior. It's one most of you can try. It strengthens and stretches the legs, groins, hips, and the sides of the torso and waist."
"I'm not great at handstands, but it's easier to do leaning into Marizol. Lesson learned: we are stronger when we trust and allow others to shore us up where we are weak."
"Full steam ahead to wherever life takes me. #perfectionisoverated" Pose: Arm Balancing Split
"I'd only tried acroyoga once I shot these, so I didn't know what I could do, but the important thing is, I didn't let the fear of perfection keep me from trying."
Pose: Acroyoga
This is what I do to unwind, stand on my head. The twist here is doing it with straight arms. I never even attempted a headstand like this until I was about 46."
Pose: Headstand
"One thing that attracted me to yoga was getting off the "be the best in the room" track that I was on, and instead focusing on being MY best."
Pose: Forearm Stand
Do you have a safe place to fall? I don't mean a place where there is no cement or rocks, but a place of compassion and kindness."

Gina started practicing yoga in 1999 at the recommendation of friends.

She says age has enhanced her practice. In fact, she didn't master at least one of these poses until she was 46 years old, but she never stopped trying and that is the message and theme of her entire life.
